Costume Design

Costume design informed by a love of storytelling and a passion for the collaborate art of theatre.

Katherina Joy is a graduate of Rosebud School of the Arts's Theatre Arts program. At Rosebud she had the opportunity to apply theatrical training to her degree in Fashion Design and Apparel Production from MC College. She has also participated in acting and directing training which further developed her love of storytelling. She always seeks to create innovative designs that drive the story forward.

While a background in fashion design makes costumes a natural language for Katherina, she has also applied her design skills to set and props designs.

I believe that beauty brings healing and story builds bridges. That is what fuels my creative endeavours.

I am a graduate of Rosebud School of the Arts with an FRSA in Theatre Arts. This is a general theatre degree that has exposed me to many different aspects of theatre. I am most interested in design, playwriting, and play production. When not focusing on theatre I write, create graphic art and love to dive into home DIY and crafting projects (in other words I take any opportunity I can to make something out of nothing). Art is how I express myself to the world, how I process my emotions, it helps me remember that I have a voice in a world that can be deafening. Art is also is how I ask questions, and how I like to show people the answers I am struggling with.

I strive to create art that offers wholesome escapism: providing fantastical medicine to a world obsessed with “the real.” I hope that by sharing my art, I will discover the familiarity of my story with the stories of others. In my creative endeavours I hope that a stranger sees themselves and feels seen, finding hope.
